Deerwood Lake, developed by The Devlin Group, is comprised of approximately 275 acres and is located in the southwest and northwest quadrant of Southside Blvd and Touchton Road in Jacksonville, Florida. This project created a well defined interconnected mixed-use development that promotes a traditional neighborhood design. Emphasizing the clustering and mixing of various uses such as multi-family units; professional/business offices; retail; restaurants; and a grocery store accomplished this neighborhood design. The end result is a tightly knit community, which also provided for a regional park that is proposed to be dedicated to the City of Jacksonville.
Taylor & White was responsible for the Re-Zoning to PUD, Site Planning and Final Engineering Design of most of the development. Once the zoning was in place, Taylor & White embarked on the design of the master drainage, water and sewer systems. The emphasis on the project was, as its name states, the existing 15-acre freshwater lake. This lake was reshaped and formed into a permitted and functional stormwater management facility. This distinct project was sub-divided and sold to numerous developers. Having designed the master systems, most of the new developers turned to us for their civil engineering needs.
